A food recall warning has been issued for items that are sold in supermarkets including Tesco, Waitrose, Ocado and SPAR. The products have all been recalled as they contain egg not listed on the label.
SPAR Pesto Chicken Breast Sizzlers
The retailer has issued a warning on 330 gram packs of its own brand chicken product.
The Food Standards Agency website states: “SPAR is recalling Pesto Chicken Breast Sizzlers because it contains egg which is not mentioned on the label.
“This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to egg.”
The packs at risk have the batch code 140920026 and use by date of September 23, 2020.
Also, the batch code 110920016 with the use by date of September 22, 2020, have been affected.
SPAR has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations who will inform members of the recall.
Those who have an allergy or intolerance to egg are urged not to consume the product.
Shoppers can return it to the store where it was bought and they will be given a full refund.
Point-of-sale notices have also been put in place inside stores to give customers more information.

Van der Meulen Melba Thins Original
Van der Meulen has recalled Melba Thins Original as they also contain egg that is not mentioned on the label.
This could be dangerous for those who have an intolerance to egg.
The product is sold by retailers including Tesco, Waitrose and Ocado.
The stores have been given point-of-sale notices to be displayed with more information.
Shoppers should beware of products that are 100 grams with the best before date of April 30, 2021.
No other batches of the Melba Thins are known to be affected.
Again, items can be returned to stores in exchange for a full refund.
Food recalls are issued when a problem is spotted with a food product.
This is not done very often but the warnings should be taken seriously by consumers.
