Phillip Schofield, 58, bravely came out as gay on Instagram after 27 years of marriage with his wife Stephanie Lowe. On This Morning he went on to say he was “coming to terms” with the fact he is gay, and now actor John Barrowman has revealed that he spoke to the popular presenter after his revelation.
I’d never imagined those headlines
John told OK! Magazine: “I’ve known Phillip for years and I’d never imagined those headlines.
“I’m not saying I haven’t thought about it, but that’s none of my business,” he added.
After noticing that Phillip appeared sad, John went over to comfort him in his dressing room.
The TV personality continued: “I had a chat with him, the night it all came out in the press, in his dressing room and I saw his face.

“It’s a face I’ve had before – upset, afraid and sad to be hurting other people. I said to him, ‘It will get better, the people around you who love you will understand. You’ll get through it’.”
Phillip is currently still living with his wife and their two grown-up daughters at home.
John added: “I’m so pleased for him, and hopefully it will lead to a greater happiness for him and his family.”
So far, there are no public plans for Phillip and Stephanie to divorce.
