Queen Elizabeth Rejects the Public's Plea to 'Skip Charles and Go Straight to William' When She Dies

There has been a lot of buzz about Prince William taking the throne ahead of his father Prince Charles, in the event Queen Elizabeth either abdicates or passes away. The Prince of Wales has waited longer than anyone to inherit the crown, but at the age of 71 years old and his popularity still low, many royal watchers would like to see William become the next King of the United Kingdom. Despite the will of the public, a royal expert claims that Queen Elizabeth has rejected the plea to “skip Charles and go straight to William” when she passes on.

Does the public really want Prince William to be the next king?

For several years, the royals have faced reports that the public would rather see William on the throne instead of Charles. Although Charles is clearly ready to be king, William has grown in popularity alongside his wife, Kate Middleton, leading to speculation that a change in the line of succession is in order.

According to Express, royal expert Victoria Arbiter claims that a lot of people in the UK wantWilliam to take the throne next. Arbiter believes that this sentiment is fueledby William’s age and the fact that Charles is not the most popular member ofthe royal family.

“There are a lot of people who want to skip Charles and gostraight to William,” she stated. “It would be shocking to skipPrince Charles, I think that’s more driven by William’s youth.”

William is second in line to the throne following Charles. Next up are William’s children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, followed by Prince Harry.

The reports of William being the next king ramped up amid thecoronavirus pandemic. With Charles isolating after testing positive for thevirus, William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, quickly became the new faces ofthe royal family.

The couple regularly updated fans on social media by sharingbehind-the-scenes pics of their daily lives and took part in video conferencesto keep up their royal duties. It may be a long time before William sits on thethrone, but he is clearly ready for the challenge.

Queen Elizabeth reportedly rejects the idea of skipping PrinceCharles

In light of the public support of William, royal expert Simon Vigar recently revealed thatQueen Elizabeth has rejected the idea of the crown skipping Charles.

Vigar argued that Queen Elizabeth would never go against the rules and wants nothing more than her oldest son to take over the monarchy after she is gone. He also stated that William is on the same page and agrees that Charles should wear the crown next.

“The Queen doesn’t believe in breaking the rules, she doesnot want Charles to step aside when she passes. William doesn’t want that tohappen,” Vigar stated.

Charles has not given any indication that he plans on steppingaside once Queen Elizabeth passes. After waiting decades to be king, it appearsas though the only way William will be on the throne next is if Charles suffersan untimely death.

Although it sounds like Her Majesty is not keen on the idea of making William the next king, it does raise questions about what it would take for such a move to become a reality.

Can anything change the line of succession?

Even if Queen Elizabeth felt differently about the line ofsuccession, she actually does not have the power to do anything about it. The1701 Act of Settlement determines who is next in line to the throne and onlyParliament has the authority to change it.

The law, which was slightly modified a few years ago to include both male and female heirs to the throne, clearly states that the monarch’s first child is the direct successor. That means nobody can stand in Prince Charles’ way if he accepts the role as the next King of the United Kingdom.

That said, it is possible that Charles abdicates the throne and gives it to William. But since Charles seems eager to take the crown, the chances of that happening are slim.

The royals have not commented on the rumors surrounding Queen Elizabeth rejecting the public’s plea to get Prince William on the throne.

Hikers' shelter on Queen's Balmoral estate shut due to 'irresponsible toileting' amid coronavirus outbreak

HIKERS’ shelters on the Queen’s Balmoral estate have been locked — due to “irresponsible toileting”.

The basic huts — known as bothies — are set in remote locations.

They have been closed on the Scottish estate during the pandemic, but not locked.

Now Balmoral staff have sealed off Gelder Shiel and Glas Allt Shiel bothies following “abuse”.

The Mountain Bothies Association said: “There has been irresponsible toileting. As a consequence, the estate has locked the building.

"The same situation occurred at the other MBA maintained bothy on the Balmoral estate, Glas Allt Shiel, a few weeks ago and it also was locked.

“The MBA condemns the irresponsible behaviour of those using bothies during the closure period.”

Balmoral took to social media to warn:”If you’ve got to go, you’ve got to go!!

“However with public toilets closed we are seeing increasing quantities of human waste on the estate.

“If you need to pee, please do so at least 30 metres from lochs or streams.

"If you need to defecate, do so as far away as possible from buildings, from open water or rivers and streams, and from any farm animals.

Balmoral last week grumbled about “wild toileting” on the estate.

The Queen to take a summer holiday to Balmoral for up to three months when lockdown restrictions on over-70s are lifted

THE Queen will end her lockdown in style — by taking a summer holiday.

She and Prince Philip are expected to fly by helicopter to Highlands retreat Balmoral, where they may stay for up to three months.

The Queen, 94, and Duke, 99, have spent 15 weeks shielding at Windsor Castle.

Royal sources say they will leave around August 1, when Covid restrictions on the over-70s will be lifted and the castle can reopen to tourists.

One insider said: “Preparations are well under way.

“Everything will be checked and double-checked to ensure there is no risk.

"But it has also helped planning that Scotland has been free of coronavirus deaths for almost a week now.”

The Queen went to Windsor Castle from Sandringham on March 19 for a planned extended Easter break.

When lockdown came a ring of protection dubbed “HMS Bubble” was placed around her.

Two teams of 12 staff have been working three-week shifts.

Meanwhile Prince Charles and Camilla spent most of lockdown at Birkhall, on the 50,000-acre Balmoral estate, but left earlier last month.

The Queen has spent a 12-week break at Balmoral every summer of her 68-year reign.

She normally stays at seven-bedroom Craigowan Lodge for a couple of weeks before moving into the castle after it is closed to tourists in early August.

But Balmoral has been shut during lockdown, allowing her to move immediately into the main house.

She usually attends Highland games at Braemar, but they have been cancelled.

Lady Colin says the Queen 'welcomed' Meghan Markle's biracial identity

Meghan Markle’s biracial identity was ‘welcomed’ by the Queen because Prince Harry ‘wouldn’t have been allowed to marry a white Hollywood starlet’, Lady Colin Campbell claims

  • Lady Colin Campbell has written a new book about Duke and Duchess of Sussex
  • Said the Queen ‘welcomed’ Meghan Markle’s biracial identity in an extract
  • Claimed Meghan’s race was ‘the only thing that was unreservedly in her favour’
  • Claimed ‘a prince’ once told her: ‘Had Meghan not been a woman of colour, they would never have allowed the marriage’
  • The new ‘tell-all’ book Meghan And Harry: The Real Story is released today
  • The release comes ahead of Harry and Meghan’s new biography Finding Freedom in August, co-written by Harper’s Bazaar journalist Omid Scobie

Lady Colin Campbell has claimed Meghan Markle’s biracial identity was ‘welcomed’ by the Queen and said Prince Harry ‘wouldn’t have been allowed to marry’ a white Hollywood starlet.

The Jamaican-born British author, 70, has written the book about the Duke, 35, and Duchess of Sussex, 38, although it is not known whether she has ever met them.

In an extract seen by FEMAIL, Lady Colin Campbell claimed the Queen felt Meghan’s biracial identity ‘made the monarchy both reflective and representative of multicultural, multiracial Britain in a way that a white California-born actress who had been a cast member of a popular television series could never have’.

She continued: ‘As a prince once told me, “Had Meghan not been a woman of colour, they would never have allowed the marriage. It was the only thing that was unreservedly in her favour”.’

Lady Campbell claims that the Queen approved of Meghan’s mixed race background, and that she believed it would help the Royal Family appear modern.

She wrote: ‘The Queen, who is well known to be a wit, said to a friend, “Mr Corbyn will find it much more difficult to get rid of us now that Meghan’s in the family”.’

The former actress, whose father Thomas Markle is caucasian and mother Doria Ragland is African American, was working on Suits when she met Prince Harry in 2017.

Back when the Duchess was a struggling actress in Hollywood, she picked up other roles including a briefcase girl on Deal or No Deal, and a part as an extra on 90210.

The star has been vocal about her experiences as a mixed-race woman, and has candidly spoken out against racism.

In the clip, which was filmed as part of the ‘I Won’t Stand For…’ campaign for non-profit organisation Erase the Hate, Meghan discusses her biracial heritage, while detailing the racist behavior she has witnessed – including her mother, Doria Ragland, being called the N-word.

Lady C’s comments come after a close friend told that Meghan’s instinct to leave the United Kingdom and move to California all makes sense to her now, because she believes she was ‘destined’ to help fight systemic racism in the United States.

The Duchess feels that her ‘gnawing urgency to uproot from England’ was fate so she could be at the ‘forefront’ of the movement, the insider explained.

The Queen (pictured with Meghan in June 2018), who is well known to be a wit, said to a friend, ‘Mr Corbyn will find it much more difficult to get rid of us now that Meghan’s in the family’, according to Lady C

They added: ‘Meghan said her work as a leader is more important than ever right now and that she’ been speaking with Oprah and other community leaders on how she can be part of the solution.

‘Meghan feels like her mission goes far beyond acting. She said she wants to use her voice for change and hasn’t ruled out a career in politics.’

Lady C, who penned the 1992 biography, Diana in Private: The Princess Nobody Knows, recently claimed she believes Meghan has political aspirations and hopes to one day run for president.

Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of A Modern Royal Family is set to be released worldwide online on August 11

The author has given a number of interviews about the couple in recent weeks, including one with The Sunday Times in which she said Meghan has ‘squandered’ the ‘most wonderful opportunity’ by leaving the royal family.

She also claimed the signs Meghan would ‘not adjust’ well to life as a royal were apparent shortly after her wedding to Prince Harry in May 2018.

Campbell said she believes the Sussexes moving to the US is part of the plan to make the shift into the political sphere.

‘I know the Duchess of Sussex has political ambitions and I’ve been told that one day she wants to run for President,’ Lady C claimed.

‘I think everything she is doing, leaving the royal family and moving back to California is part of her plan and she has taken Harry along with her.’

At the beginning of the month Lady Colin told the Daily Mail about her new book, adding: ‘It’s called Meghan And Harry: The Real Story. There are plenty of revelations. I’ve had members of the Markle family to stay, but I’m not saying anything until closer to the book launch.’

The release of her book comes ahead of Harry and Meghan’s new biography Finding Freedom in August, which is co-written by Harper’s Bazaar journalist Omid Scobie.

Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of A Modern Royal Family is set to be released worldwide online on August 11, with the hard copy on sale from August 20.

A description of the biography on Amazon promises to offer an ‘honest, up-close, and disarming portrait of the confident, influential, forward’ Prince Harry, 35, and Meghan Markle, 38.

The 320-page biography, due to be released in August, is expected to be a global bestseller. ‘
